There are some risk factors for breast cancer that a woman can’t control, such as a family history of breast cancer.
You might be surprised though to learn that, for most women, lifestyle and behaviours are much more important factors for breast health than genetic influences. Only 5-10% of all breast cancers have a genetic cause; while up to 42% are linked to lifestyle factors.
Five Plus offers women the information they need to reduce their risk of breast cancer at any age:
- All women can learn about the five simple steps they can follow to reduce their risk of developing breast cancer.
- Women 40-49 can find out when and how to start regular screening, and how to continue looking after their breast health.
- Women 50+ can learn how to maintain their breast health as they age, and how they can access regular screening mammograms if they are not already doing so.
